And this is a fake account of a scammer using the images of   Tristan Siegel, retired Colonel from the US Army.  Click on his name to take you to a page about the real guy.

Tristan Siegel SCAMMED

Monday 12 November 2018

This post is about Tristan Siegel who is a retired Colonel from the US Army who has his images stolen to generate fake accounts that are used to scam women out of money.

If you are being messaged by anyone claiming to be a man using these images then you are being messaged by a fake out to scam you.  Many of the photos scammers use of him are old pictures (his real children are grown up now) and of him wearing his uniform (he is retired from the army).  Please do not believe the scammer - they are out to trick you and make you fall in love so that you send them money, itunes cards, tech or whatever.  It is not the real person that is messaging you.

Indeed click on this here to take you to a news story featuring the real Tristan Siegel and what is happening to him online.

Please do not contact the real man either.  They know that scamming goes on in their name and they are pretty powerless to stop it from happening.  They do not need you getting in touch with them adding to their stress.  You may have been scammed, this gentleman is scammed hundreds of times every day.  Chalk your interaction up to experience and learn from it.

Please never send any cash, cards or tech to anyone who befriends you on the internet.  They are sure to be scammers out to steal your money and your self-esteem. And the next scammer for today is this one

I was dying for this scammer to message me and he did.  The reason why is because I have a strong feeling looking at the photos used on his profile that the original, real guy is gay.  The photo that particularly draws my eye is the middle picture where the real guy is wearing the leather harness that I have only ever see gay guys wearing.

Here follow the screenshots of my conversation with him.  He was not listening and tried to convince me he is straight and wants to be with me.  He kept trying to convince me by sending more photos and videos that only served to prove to me that he can steal photos and videos.  On re-reading the conversation, particularly the parts where I must be pissing him off, his English is really poor.  He is definitely a fake using another man's images and this scammer has chosen the wrong images to scam with and the wrong person to scam.

And another one who out of the blue contacted me again yesterday.  Again I can't remember the original account on Instagram where he messaged me first.  If I find it or come across it I will update this post with the new information.

This guy reckons he has a used car business and he has joined his shipment of cars in Africa and guess what??  He is short of money to pay the country's customs bill.  This is one of the scams I have heard before and is used by scammers who don't seem to understand how business works and are extremely badly prepared.  Here are the screenshots of the conversation from yesterday.

I should explain at this point that I video chatted him which he declined the first time.  The second he covered the camera and the screen was red.  All I could hear in the background was a lot of noise and African voices plus some speaking in French.  Hence the reason I speculated about him coming from Ivory Coast - a West African country that speaks French as it's first language.

What was hilarious was that he asked me for €1,000,000 which is almost a £1,000,000.  I mean really?  I assuming that he had no concept of what he was asking of an individual.  The whole scenario was an obvious scam but the amount just made it even more obvious.  What made me laugh out loud was the fact that he thought I would be reassured by him answering the video call but not letting me see him.  Now why would I be reassured by that???  The answer is not. Your guy won't be seen on a video chat? Plays a fake looking video? Covers over the camera?  Then he is fake.  A genuine guy who genuinely loves you would want you to be able to see him.  Spring a video chat on him and see what he does.

The screenshots that follow are from an account that is most definitely fake and the scammer first messaged me on Instagram.  Unfortunately it was so long ago now that I can't remember his Instagram account name so thus I don't have a screenshot of the profile page.  Suffice to say this guy was masquerading as a white American man who lives in Texas and was working as a contractor as indeed do most scammers of Instagram.

A little bit of background here is needed before you read the following screenshots from the end of our conversation yesterday.  He first messaged me well before the school summer holidays and must have been in July.  We spoke for a little on Instagram and then our conversation moved onto WhatsApp.  The phone number provided was American but really these days that means nothing as numbers can be cloned etc but scammers think they lend a degree of authenticity.

He decided that he wanted us to have nicknames for each other so he became "Bear" and I was "Pear" for some stupid reason.  We had chatted on and off for July and August and into the beginning of September when all went quiet.  I had spoken to him on voice call and realised that he was a black man from Africa but hadn't had the opportunity to call him out on it as he didn't call again until yesterday.

There are always new scams on the go or something happens in the scamming world which piques my interest again and yesterday this happened when "Bear" contacted me again out of the blue for the first time in just about two months.  I knew this meant that he more than likely wanted something from me and this certainly turned out to be the case.  Here follow the screenshots of our last bits of conversation plus a screenshot of "Bear" that I took when he did a video chat.

And at this point I quit the conversation, made sure I had all the screenshots I needed and got him blocked and reported on WhatsApp.

I think the screenshot of the real guy coupled with his definite African accent makes it clear just what and who he is.  Doesn't look like he needs the cash does he?  Scammers almost never look destitute - all I have seen look well dressed and fashionable.  Not like they are struggling.  He certainly wasn't struggling as he was driving and talking to me yesterday.

Lists of fake accounts all using images of Prince Hamdan

Monday 5 November 2018

Yesterday I spent an interesting 5 minutes on Instagram answering a question that was going around in my mind.  I was wondering just how many active accounts of the Crown Prince of Dubai, Prince Hamdan there are.  I did a quick search on Instagram using the search terms Prince Hamdan and this is what I found:

There are 20 screenshots here and each shot has 8 fake accounts listed so that makes a total of 160 fake accounts that came up using the search of Prince Hamdan.  This makes me wonder now how many other fake accounts there are using other terms to search such as Fazza, Sheikh Hamdan etc.

Basically the lesson to take from this exercise is that there are literally hundreds of fake accounts using the images of Prince Hamdan, the Crown Prince of Dubai.  All you need to remember is that @faz3 is the original and verified account on Instagram and the Prince won't be messaging you at all.
