How to report an account for impersonation on Instagram

Sometimes you have a fake account holder messaging you and you already know the name of the person who has had their images and identity stolen.  In this instance it is a good idea to report the account for impersonation.  Here is how to do this.

1. Click on the user name of the account you want to report like this one below.  Then click on the three dots opposite the user name.

2. You will see this menu.  Click on the top one Report.

3.  You will the see these choices.  Click on It's inappropriate.

4.  These choices then appear.  Click on the second choice - the violates Instagram's guidelines.

5.  These choices appear, pick Report account.

6.  This menu appears next.  Click on This profile is pretending to be someone else

7.  This set of choices is next.  Select A celebrity or public figure.

8.  And then this screen appears.  You can see that I have filled in the box with the name of the real guy, in this case it's another Dr Fernando impersonator.

9.  And this is the screen you see to say you have reported the account successfully.  At this point I go back and also report the account as spam to give a double whammy.  You should get a result from Instagram at some point but timing always varies in my experience.
