The next one for today is this guy

And here is his backstory

• He lives in Texas City in the US 
• He is age 41
• He is single because his wife cheated on him with his best friend
• He is in the US army and is in Nigeria currently peacekeeping against BokoHaram  (a useful lie should we ever exchange numbers on WhatsApp and the country code is +234 for Nigeria)

The conversation with this guy followed the usual patterns: professing undying love, how beautiful I am and all the usual questions, but it did turn a little weird.  He decided that I should have a baby for him!!!  Er no.  Well instead of telling you what he said I have included the rather sinister screenshots of the actual conversation.

This I found particularly disturbing. He got blocked and reported straightaway.

The next one for today is this charmer   tortybrain103

Sorry no Instagram profile screenshot for this one. I forgot to take one at the time and he is not there on Instagram now but you know what he looks like now. This is his backstory:

• He is single and has a son aged 24
• He comes from Washington State, USA
• He is a contractor that works on projects building houses/business buildings/complex roads
• He also works with phone and car companies

He asked all the usual questions they want to know and soon began to tell me a sob story about how he was running short of cash and needed and iTunes card to update his phone.  In no uncertain terms he was outed and blocked on all platforms.

My third scammer for today is

This guy was a bit of a wonder for me.  It wasn't completely clear to me whether he was a scammer or not.  This is his backstory:

• His name is Bryan Porter
• He is from Texas USA, in an army base in Houston
• He is single, aged 49
• Has a son aged 15 living in a boarding school in America
• He said his job was in the army base right now but he does act as an undercover agent
• He earns $15,000 a month

Having just read this information again I really don't know why I thought he wasn't a scammer.  He used all the usual flattering language and professed his undying love almost immediately.  When we were messaging he engineered a lot of coincidences between us and asked all the usual questions that are really just a bit too personal on meeting  a new person.  He wrote reasonably good English which was more convincing but there were times when he really didn't understand slang terms and I had to explain them. We moved onto WhatsApp and continued messaging, however, he would not send a pic of himself and he would not do a voice or video call.   One of the reasons given was that he had broken his phone in the shower taking it in with him so he didn't miss my messages!!  This guy also asked very personal questions about sex and wanted to engage in some dirty talk.

I got rather sick and tired of his emotionally needy attitude.  Every comment was claims of love and wanting to be together for ever and was getting o be virtually constant.  It got very wearing.  I was just wondering how I could force the issue to fall out with him when lo and behold he came up with the perfect out for me. Apparently, wives and fiancees of serving military men in the USA are entitled to certain benefits and the soldier himself earns more pay too.  He wanted me to be in touch with his commanding officer and register my details as his fiancee in the army database.  This would then mean he would earn more and I would get other benefits.  I asked if this would still work even though I am in the UK.  Needless to say he didn't answer.  Of course this was not going to happen.  I would never have done this and especially after doing a search for the topic on Google.  What I found was very interesting and is a known scam in the US: military personnel making marriages of convenience in order to get benefits for themselves.  The proposed spouses enter into a formal contract, a business arrangement about who is getting what and who is paying for what.  The intended spouse of the military person knows the marriage is a sham but is paid by the soldier to be their spouse.  It costs the American military a fortune every year.  On reading this, I picked a fight and managed to end it quickly. Now I have to be open and honest here and say that I don't know if this is what he really wanted, it might have been, it might not have been but I wasn't staying around to find out.

My second scammer for today is

The backstory of this scammer is this:

• His name is Nicolas Miller
• He claims he is from Ireland, but then goes onto say he is born and raised in the US
• His single mother raised him
• His wife died 6 years ago - his words were "the cold hand of death"
• He has a son called Harry who is 14 and is at a boarding school in the US
• He is a soldier in the US Army serving in Afghanistan, peacekeeping but will be home by September
• Has a house he lives in in Brooklyn, NYC, USA

This guy used the classic stories to garner sympathy and affection and was very flattering immediately.  His story just smacks of being false .  The use of the same personal questions ie are you married/why not/income/ own or rent? etc.  The use of words like my queen, dear, have you eaten and  have you bathed are all clues too.  He wanted to add me on hangouts so we chatted on there with more of the same drivel.  He wanted a pic of me but could not send any of him due to restrictions on sending photos in a military zone.  But he can still chat on Instagram and hangouts?  Very dubious.  I decided to kick this one into touch and blocked him on all platforms.

My first scammer today is this delightful fellow

This man did not last long with me.  I just lost my patience with the same old patter. This is all I know about his backstory:

• He calls himself Donald Scott
• He is from California
• He said he is 62

At this point I didn't find out anymore about him at all.  He used the usual flattering language and started to ask the same usual questions.  I just had no patience with him at all as I had been bombarded with scammers all day.  He said the usual stuff about his age just being a number. I decided to use this as my out and said that I thought he was too old for me and I just wasn't interested in pursuing a relationship.  Watch out for him because I think he is a classic scammer. I just could not face another conversation of mindless drivel.

And the second scammer for today is this one

Now where do I start with this idiot??  He really isn't very good at this scamming lark because I was onto him right from the start but figured that he might be fun to toy with for a while and he was.  This is his backstory:

• He is called Sam Richardson
• He is from Germany but lives in California
• He was widowed when his wife died in a car accident
• He had 2 children, aged 15 and 25 but then changed his story when questioned by saying that he did a typo and meant to say 5 and 16
• He says that he is a maintenance engineer on an oil rig off Aberdeen in the UK, working a 4 on 4 off pattern - he called it 4 in and 4 out (no one in oil or shipping refers to trips like this it is always on and off)

This guy followed a very familiar pattern to the rest of them out there.  Overly affectionate immediately and very evasive at answering questions.  One that I do ask them now regularly is how tall are you?  This seems to bring forth a varying selection of answers, average being one of them or can you not tell from the pic I sent you?, being another. Well this class act must have missed class that day because he answered 5'17. With a friend he had learnt and said 5'11 but when he answered me it couldn't have been a typo as 1 and 7 are not next to each other on the keyboard.  He also had a very poor understanding of the time in Aberdeen (and thus where I live too also in the UK). His excuse for this was that he was being bombarded with messages from a woman so he was putting her off by saying it was night time.  This was my friend and of course, he was messaging her and had lost track of what he was saying to whom.  This often happens and is your instant out of the conversation.

He added me on hangouts reasonably quickly and did do a voice call - it was not a German come American accent that spoke back to me that's for sure.  Eventually after pussy footing about for a few days we got to the crux of the matter and he came up with a totally false story about damaging a pipe on the rig and needing to pay for a new one himself.  It was going to cost $3000 and he wanted to fix it on the quiet without his bosses knowing.  I mean as if he would have to do this and he swiftly got blocked on all platforms.

Today the delightful scammer is this one

This scammer is one of a multitude of incarnations of a genuine guy from Instagram. The images from the genuine page of Dr Fernando Gomes Pinto appear many many times - so much so that they will probably get their own blog post in the future.  Well this guy is one of the many.

Here is his backstory:

• His name is John Mark and he is 52
• He is from Italy but lives in Atlanta, Georgia
• He is a Dr in Syria working with the UN on behalf of the US government

This one rang immediate alarm bells with me because I have already had experience of 2 other scammers using the exact same photos of the real Dr Pinto Gomes.  He wanted to change over to hangouts immediately and straightaway called.  He then did a video call.  I declined it but luckily it wasn't connecting anyway.  The thing is the connection via these apps for voice and video calls is often very poor, particularly from Africa. When I did speak to him, well, let's say that his voice didn't sound like a potential Italian from the deep south in America.  The other thing that put me onto him was all the massive posts that appeared by the magic of cut and paste.  Just another one spouting all the same old stuff. Blocked everywhere.
